3D Product Rendering FAQ: 12 Questions Ecommerce Brands Ask Us Every Week

Every intro call we take covers roughly the same ground. So here it is in one place, the questions we hear most, answered plainly, with links to the longer articles if you want the full detail.

Is 3D rendering actually cheaper than photography?

Usually, especially once you need more than one image. A single simple photo can be cheaper than a single render, but the moment you need multiple angles, colorways, or an infographic set, the reusable 3D model wins on cost. Our pricing guide breaks down real numbers.

Do I need CAD files to get started?

No. CAD is ideal, but we regularly build models from a physical sample, phone photos, or spec sheets. See what files you actually need.

Will Amazon reject rendered images?

No, as long as the image accurately shows the product. Amazon's rules govern what an image shows, not how it was made. Full details in our Amazon image requirements guide.

How long does a project take?

A single packshot typically runs three to five business days. A full listing set is closer to one to two weeks. See realistic timelines by project type.

How much does it cost?

Single-product packages start at $490. First-time clients can also get one complete high-resolution render for $130 before committing to anything larger.

Do I own the 3D model afterward?

That depends on the studio and the contract, so ask before you start. Final images are always yours. Whether the editable scene transfers is a separate question worth putting in the brief.

Can you render a product that does not exist yet?

Yes. This is one of the most valuable uses of 3D rendering: listing images, pre-order pages, and retailer pitch decks built straight from CAD or spec sheets, months before the first unit ships. See renders before manufacturing.

What is the difference between a cheap render and a premium one?

Mostly the hours spent on materials and micro-detail: edge softening, accurate glass thickness, realistic roughness. Our cheap vs premium comparison walks through what each price tier actually buys.

Can you animate my product too?

Yes, and the same 3D model used for your still images can generate an animation without a reshoot. Whether it is worth it for your product specifically depends on what you are selling. We cover that honestly in is 3D animation worth it.

What if I only have one product, not a whole catalog?

That is most of our clients. Single-product packages are common, and the $130 test render exists specifically for brands testing the waters with one SKU before scaling up.

What industries do you work with?

Consumer electronics, cosmetics, eyewear, fitness and home goods, packaging, and general Amazon and Shopify sellers across most physical product categories. If your product is manufactured and photographable, it is almost certainly renderable.

How do I start?

Send us your files, sample, or spec sheet and we will tell you honestly whether rendering is the right fit for your product. Start with a $130 test render and judge the quality on your own item before deciding on anything bigger.
